SKAI Privacy Policy

SKAI is an iPhone study app for the FAA Part 107 remote pilot knowledge test. It is published by MAR AI LLC. This policy covers the app, this website and support email.

The short version

SKAI has no accounts, no sign-in, no advertising and no analytics. Your study history and settings stay on your iPhone and are not sent to MAR AI LLC. Optional speech recognition goes through Apple and may use Apple servers. If you choose to email support, we receive that email. Deleting the app removes its study records from your iPhone; it does not delete email you already sent or your own device backups.

What the app stores on your iPhone

  • Your practice sessions: which questions you saw, what you answered, and where you stopped, so you can pick up a paused session.
  • Finished practice sessions and practice tests, as dates and scores.
  • Your mistake notebook: the questions you missed and when to bring each one back for review.
  • Your study settings, such as whether voice answers are on and how long a session is.
  • Whether you turned on the optional daily reminder, and at what time. The reminder is scheduled on your iPhone.
  • If you fill them in: whether you are new to the test or renewing, an optional test date, and an optional first name that the app uses only to greet you.
  • A record that the full course was bought, if you buy it. The app asks Apple, not MAR AI LLC, to confirm that purchase.

This information stays in the app’s own storage on your iPhone. It is not uploaded to MAR AI LLC, backed up to us, or shared with anyone by us. It may be included in your own device backups, which you and Apple control, not us.

The microphone and speech recognition

Voice answers are optional. You can always answer by tapping, and you can turn voice answers off in Settings. If you use them and give permission, SKAI sends the microphone sound to Apple’s speech recognition. SKAI asks for recognition on the iPhone itself where your iPhone supports it. Where it does not, or when a try fails and the app tries again, Apple may process the sound on its servers under Apple’s privacy practices.

MAR AI LLC does not receive your microphone sound. SKAI does not save recordings or transcripts, and it does not send them to MAR AI LLC. The recognized words are used only to understand your answer or a spoken command, such as repeating a question. Pausing or stopping a session, or turning voice off, stops listening.

When the app uses the internet

MAR AI LLC does not run a server that receives your SKAI study data. This version has written chapters, with no lesson videos or recorded instructor audio to download. The app uses these Apple services:

  • Speech recognition, if you use voice answers, as described above.
  • The purchase. The one-time purchase is made through Apple. Apple handles the payment, and MAR AI LLC never sees your payment details.

What we do not collect

The app does not send MAR AI LLC your contact details, contacts, photos, location, device identifiers, advertising identifiers or usage analytics. It has no advertising or analytics code from other companies, and it does not track you across other apps or websites. The optional first name and setup answers stay on your iPhone and are never sent to us.

Support email

If you choose to email us, we receive your email address, your message, and any details or attachments you include. The app can fill in a short report for you: the app version and build, the chapter and question you were on, the study language, your iPhone model and your iOS version. The model is a type of iPhone, not your individual phone. You can read or change the email before you send it, or cancel without sending.

We use your email to answer you, look into the problem, and fix content. Email sent to hello@mar-ai.org is forwarded by Cloudflare to our support inbox, where it is stored. Support email stays in the inbox until it is deleted; we have no fixed deletion schedule. Deleting the app does not delete email you already sent. You can ask us to show, correct or delete your support email using the address below. The law and records we must keep may limit what can be deleted.

This website

This website is separate from the app. Cloudflare serves mar-ai.org, and a copy of the site is hosted on Fly.io. These hosts may keep ordinary server logs, which can include your IP address, the page you asked for and your browser type, for security and troubleshooting. This site runs no advertising or analytics scripts and sets no cookies.

Children

SKAI is a study aid for a remote pilot certificate, which the FAA issues only to people 16 or older. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us and we will look into it and deal with it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, delete or get a copy of personal information we hold, such as your support email. Contact us at the address below. Your study records stay on your iPhone, so MAR AI LLC cannot see or get them back for you.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version at this address with a new date before the change reaches a released version of the app.
